Swadlincote Police arrested a wanted criminal after making a surprise return visit to the Wilmot Road property he was staying at.

Callum Dolman was wanted on a recall to prison - but a first visit to the house drew a blank.

However, when officers came back later, they got their man.

Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team's Facebook page explained what happened.

The post reads: "Pcs Holmes and Smethurst attended an address on Wilmot Road, Swadlincote, to effect the arrest of Callum Dolman who was wanted on a recall to prison.

"The occupant of the address was being obstructive saying Dolman was not at the address and would not allow the officers entry.

"The duo did not give up and returned later to find Dolman at the address!

"Dolman was arrested and appeared at Derby Magistrates Court where he was recalled until December 2021."

The SNT also reported another arrest of a well-known shoplifter.

The post adds: "Not to be outdone by their colleagues Pcs Saddington and Simkin, came across a prolific shoplifter who was wanted for four thefts whilst patrolling Newhall; another one arrested and on his way to custody!"
