Swadlincote Police fined five people breaking lockdown rules by going to a birthday party

The town's Safer Neighbourhood Team reported the penalties were issued during Sunday.

Police did not reveal the location of the party, but said people there had not been following the guidelines.

The SNT's Facebook page said: "Our PCs also attended reports of a Covid-19 breach earlier in the day and ended up giving out five Fixed Penalty Notices to people attending a birthday party.

"Whilst we understand that not seeing friends and family is difficult, we need to stick to the guidelines - wasting birthday cake is a crime in itself!"
