Swadlincote area to be hit by high winds this week - travel disruption is expected
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the whole of England, with heavy winds and rain forecast from Wednesday evening.
The warning is from 21.00 hours tomorrow night (Wednesday) until 15:00 on Thursday.
Yellow warnings are issued when it is likely the weather will cause some low level impacts, including some disruption to travel.
The severity of the winds, coming to the UK from the west after an Atlantic storm, is such that the service is predicting there will be problems for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes.
Some short term loss of power and other services is possible says the Met Office's Coalville forecast.
BBC Weather says strong winds accompanied by heavy and blustery showers may bring some disruption such as:
- Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
- Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
- Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
- Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer
