Newhall drugs raid uncovers 'large amount of cannabis' as Swadlincote Police arrest two men

Two men were arrested by Swadlincote Police for possession of drugs after uncovering a 'large amount of cannabis', a number plate printing machine and mobile phones at an address in Newhall.

They were caught after their car was tracked in Newhall.

Officers became suspicious when the vehicle stopped at an address in Bretby Road.

They found the driver had committed a number of driving offences including having false plates and no insurance.

His passenger was already in the house, but when he was spoken to, officers then uncovered drugs and other equipment.

Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team's Facebook page explained officers witnessed a black Vauxhall Astra travelling along Bretby Road.

The post reads: "As the vehicle stops the passenger quickly makes his way into a nearby address, the driver was spoken to enquires showed the vehicle to be on false plates and the driver only had provisional licence and no insurance. Vehicle seized.

"The duo were joined by Pc Mcglade & Wheldon who continued their enquires and located the passenger in a nearby address where a large amount of cannabis was located.

"Both males were arrested for Possession with the intent to supply and transported to custody.

"A further search of the address located more cannabis, scales, a number plate printing machine and mobile phones."

The post added: "On Saturday evening PC Saddington brought a vehicle to a stop after speeding past her, she was joined by response officers and the two males located within the vehicle were detained and searched under S23 of The Misuse of Drugs Act.

"The vehicle was also searched and both males were found in possession of cannabis.

"Males dealt with at the roadside and drugs seized and strong words of advice regarding the potential dangers of smoking cannabis and driving."
