Man wanted for supermarket theft is arrested by Swadlincote police

A man wanted for theft from Sainsbury's supermarket in Swadlincote was arrested yesterday (Sunday).

Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team reported that Leon Tilt was due to appear before magistrates in Derby this morning.

The SNT posted online that two suspects were spotted over the weekend.

They said: "Whilst out patrolling the team have come across two wanted males - 19/06/21 a male wanted for a fail to appear was arrested by Pc McGlade, 20/06/21 eagle eyed 'Robin' spotted Leon Tilt who was wanted for a shop theft at Sainsbury.

"Tilt was arrested by the Sergeant and has been charged and remanded by Group 3 Local Policing Unit to appear at Derby Magistrates court in the morning."

Police in the town also said that a Section 34 dispersal order came into force in the town on Friday 18 June and has been reviewed today (Sunday) and remains in place.

The order allows police to disperse people from parts of Swadlincote including the parks if they are involved in instances of anti-social behaviour, take anyone under 16 back to their home.

A dispersal order can only be authorised for a maximum period of 48 hours, an assessment has been carried out and further period of up to 48 hours has been authorised.
