Two Swadlincote police officers were threatened by a man wielding a wine bottle last week.

The man was drunk and the officers were able to take the bottle off him and arrest him.

But when he sobered up - the man offered police an apology.

Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team explained what happened.

They posted: "Whilst on patrol, Rachael & Dean came across a drunken male.

"Whilst trying to reason with the male and get him to a place of safety, he became more aggressive and threatened the duo with a wine bottle.

"They stood their ground and were more concerned about the male's welfare.

"Dean managed to get the wine bottle out of the males hand and thanks to the quick response from group 3 the male was arrested and taken to custody.

"When the male sobered up, he sent an apology to the officers.

"The duo continued to work with a smile on their face and did a talk to Newhall Scouts."
