Swadlincote's Green Bank Leisure Centre has had to put its pool re-opening back again due to 'serious technical issue which is causing a leak'.

The Civic Way-based centre had intended to allow the public back into the water today (Monday).

But an initial technical issue delayed it by 24 hours.

However, the centre said on Monday evening that the problem had got worse and needs to be addressed urgently.

The centre explained on its Facebook page: "Whilst preparing our swimming pool for reopening in the last 48 hours, we discovered a serious technical issue which is causing a leak.

"We have been working hard to rectify this and stick to our opening date of tomorrow (Tuesday), but unfortunately that does not now seem possible.

"We will update you within the next 24 hours as soon we can confirm a date for reopening the pool.

"We sincerely apologise for this as we are fully aware of the disappointment this will cause but have no possible way of resuming swimming tomorrow with the fault.

"During our pool closure we have been inspecting all equipment daily, and at no stage did this cause concern, but sadly the technical issue has now chosen to arise at the critical time of reopening.

"We appreciate it is not ideal, but Etwall Leisure Centre swimming pool is available for use, and can be booked via the app.

"Please bear with us. We will update you as soon as possible."
