A Midway shopkeeper was racially abused by an 'aggressive' man on Saturday afternoon - and Swadlincote Police want to track him down.

The confrontation happened at a store in Elmsleigh Drive just after mid-day.

Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team have issued CCTV pictures of the man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

The SNT said: "We have released CCTV stills of a man we'd like to speak with about a public order incident in Swadlincote on Saturday afternoon.

"A man reportedly entered a store in Elmsleigh Drive, Midway at about 12.10pm on March 12, and behaved aggressively towards the shopkeeper and racially abused him.

"The man then left the shop, kicking the door on the way out and taking a can of drink which, he had left money for on the counter – despite the shop keeper refusing to serve him.

"The shopkeeper and his son followed the man out of the shop and caught up with him in Poplar Avenue, where the man threatened them and shouted further racist abuse before walking off.

"Do you recognise the man pictured, or do you have any further information about this incident?

"Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Peter Wan quoting reference number 22*143664.
