Election day in Swad and the surrounding area: If you need to find your nearest polling station, use this site

It is local election day in the Swadlincote area tomorrow (Thursday) as voters return to the polls following more than a year in lockdown.

If you are not sure where your nearest polling station is, then the Electoral Commission webpage allows you to type in your postcode and find out where you can vote.

You can access the site HERE.

There will be an election of a councillor to Derbyshire County Council and for the Police and Crime Commissioner for the Derbyshire Police area.

Derbyshire County Council is currently in Conservative control, holding 36 out of 64 seats, followed by Labour with 24, the Liberal Democrats with three seats and one vacancy.

The county and city's current PCC is Labour's Hardyal Dhindsa. His fellow election rivals are Conservative Angelique Foster, Lib Dem Stan Heptinstall and Reform UK candidate Tim Prosser.

Results from the county council and PCC elections expected throughout Friday, May 7.
