Newhall's waste and recycling tip has been closed as councils battle to maintain regular bin collections.
Derbyshire County Council and Derby City Council have announced that all 10 of the household waste and recycling centres have now been shut down due to Government guidance around social distancing and self-isolation to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
The centres will remain closed "until further notice" and that includes the one at Main Street, Newhall.
A spokesperson for the county council said: "The safety of customers and staff is the council's number one priority and in accordance with current government coronavirus guidelines of avoiding non-essential contact and preventing a risk of infection to others, the sites will remain shut. It is essential that we do all we can to slow down the spread of the virus."
The authority also stressed that there would be hefty fines for anyone dumping waste outside of the closed centres.
It said that leaving waste at the recycling centre gates or anywhere else is classed as fly tipping and is a criminal offence for which people will be prosecuted and fined up to £50,000.
Councils across the county are also battling to maintain regular bin collections due to staff shortages and strict social-distancing guidance.
Derby City Council has suspended garden waste bin collections
Derbyshire Dales District Council has also suspended garden waste collections.
It has also reduced food waste pick-ups to once each fortnight instead of each week.
The Dales authority is now running two-person crews for bin collections instead of three-person crews in order to fulfil social distancing.
