South Derbyshire District Council has issued a reminder that the drive-through Coronavirus medical facility in Swadlincote is by appointment only.

The temporary assessment site was set up earlier this month in the town next to the bus station.

But it is not a testing centre and is only meant for people displaying symptoms of Covid-19.

The Council has made it clear you will need an appointment to use the centre.

And you can only get one by following these two steps.

  • First, you need a phone consultation via 111.
  • Second, you must then have a phone consultation with your local GP.

This facility is self-contained and in the form of a drive-through medical centre, purely focussed on assessing patients with COVID-19 symptoms.

The site is secured at all times and is staffed by doctors and other healthcare professionals.

The service is to enable a clinical decision to be made regarding the appropriate treatment advice for people suffering with COVID-19 symptoms.
