A passenger in a car was openly smoking cannabis despite a Swadlincote police patrol being in the Midway area.

Officers spoke to the occupants of the Ford Fiesta after being 'nearly blown away' by the strong smell.

A post on the Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team Facebook page said the pair were both 'dealt with'.

The post reads: "Don't be sat in a car smoking cannabis when the sergeant and PCSO supervisor are patrolling.

"A black Fiesta caught the attention of Sergeant Nizzer & PCSO Supervisor Kerri who were patrolling Midway.

"They were nearly blown away by the smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle.

"Although it was the passenger who was smoking the cannabis, the driver looked high after the telling off and search from the sergeant!

"The driver and passenger both dealt with. Kerri did all the Sergeant's admin!"
