A runaway Beagle turned into a temporary police dog after being recovered by Swadlincote officers.

The dog was spotted on the A511 road after dashing off from its owner.

Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team posted more details on their Facebook page: "A Beagle was found running towards the A511 this evening and quickly takes Robin's front seat.

"He was not impressed as he was demoted to the back seat.

"The dog was raring to go and wanting to patrol with us.

"He was re-united with his owner after it had quickly run away from him."
