Swadlincote Police say they have arrested the town's 'most wanted offender' - after was found hiding in an attic.

Officers Swadlincote's Safer Neighbourood Team chased the suspect to an address in Kinder Avenue in Newhall.

And once they had threatened to break down the door, they got their man.

A blow by blow account of the incident was posted on the SNT Facebook page.

It reads: "After recent reports of a suspicious male trying to break into vehicles and addresses an arrest was made.

"After the Safer Neighbourhood Team had conducted park patrols last night the Sergeant returned to his office to put his feet up and have his beloved coffee.

"Before he could even boil the kettle, Robin and Pc Dave were in a foot chase after Swadlincote most wanted offender.

"Batman & Sergeant Nizzer leapt into action with the support of group 2 response officers. Batman & Robin leapt over a garden gate and an address on Kinder Avenue was surrounded.

"The occupant of the address refused to open the door, after the Sergeant politely shouted: "IF YOU DON'T OPEN THE DOOR ITS COMING OFF ITS HINGES ".

"Guess what? the door was opened and the occupant said the offender was not at the address and we can't go inside without warrant!

"Guess again? We went in and searched the address and the suspect was not located.

"The occupant was chuffed saying: " I told you he was not here!"

"Batman & Sergeant decided to search the loft - one arrested for Burglary, Fraud, Assault and off to the Batcave (Custody)."
