Derbyshire County Council has given an update on the new Woodville to Swadlincote Regeneration Route.

The next stage began today (Tuesday, May 4) with surface layers being laid on the new road.

And the County Council say there will be around 35 lorries a day arriving at the site over a 10 day period.

The update reads: "Kerbing work and the new drainage systems along the new road are now complete.

"During week/commencing May 4, we will begin laying the bituminous surfacing layers on the new road.

"Lorries will use a one way system, entering the site from Occupation Lane and leaving via Kiln Way.

"Work will start on building footpaths alongside the new road once the surfacing work has been completed.

"We will be working some Saturdays during May, with a shift finish of 1pm."

The update then gives more details about possible disruption.

It adds: "Occupation Lane – Woodville. On May 4, lorries will start to deliver the bituminous materials to surface the new road.

"Lorries will enter the site from Occupation Lane and leave via Kiln Way.

"There will be around 35 lorries per day, over an approximate 10 day period.

"We have asked that the lorries arrive after our site has opened, so residents do not have lorries queuing nearby.

"Three way lights will again be needed at the roundabout on Occupation Lane, while we join the new link road to the existing roundabout."
