Swadlincote tip is set to re-open from next Monday.

Full details are expected to be announced on Tuesday by Derbyshire County Council.

The household waste recycling centre at Park Road, Newhall, will be open next week along with all of the Derbyshire County Council operated tips.

Eddie Bisknell, the Local Democracy Reporter for Derbyshire, tweeted the news on Monday night.

And the County Council confirmed the news in a video message.

It means the tips will re-open at same time as Leicestershire County Council.

And it seems the move is a bid to stop people flooding to open tips in the neighbouring counties.

The nearest tip to Newhall in Leicestershire is Lount, near Ashby where strict social distancing guidelines are in place.

Leicestershire County Council has made it clear that only certain types of waste will be accepted, there is likely to be a booking system and people are urged only to come to the tip if rubbish has been piling up at home during lockdown.

Derbyshire County Council has yet to confirm the measures they will put in place.

A video message confirmed that the re-opening of Derbyshire's recycling centres will take place on Monday.

But they also urged the public to follow the guidance the council will be issuing on Tuesday.
