Diners at Swadlincote's Tall Chimney are chowing down on vibrant green burgers and ice-cream sundaes while helping a great cause at the same time.

The brightly-coloured dishes have been launched by Greene King and Hungry Horse as part of its partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support.

The 'Greene Warrior' burger features either a crispy chicken or grilled beef patty, topped with a layer of fajita seasoned mac 'n' cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion and mayo, all sandwiched between two bright green burger buns 'dyed' with spinach to match the charity's iconic green branding.

The Mint-Millan Sundae has two scoops of mint choc chip and one of vanilla flavour ice cream with crushed chocolate mint balls, chocolate flavour sauce, topped with whipped cream.

Macmillan Cancer Support receives £1 from every quirky green burger sold and 20p from each ice cream sundae, helping the charity continue its vital work providing physical, financial and emotional support for those affected by cancer and to people working in the NHS.

Tall Chimney general manager Michelle Sunman told Swadlincote Nub News: "The burger and sundae are going down well with our customers who are supporting a fantastic charity at its time of need.

"Greene King has supported McMillan for six years and the team here does a lot of fundraising for the charity - we've got something exciting planned for later this month, which will be revealed soon."

Both colourful dishes are available at Tall Chimney until 30 September, or while stocks last.

The launch of the boldly coloured dishes come during a challenging year for Macmillan, which has reported significant losses in donations due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The charity anticipates a loss of 35 to 50 percent of its fundraising revenue this year.
