An 850-metre-long metal fence has been erected at a South Derbyshire beauty spot after months of reprehensible and shameful conduct.

Scores of unruly visitors descended on Foremark Reservoir, near Ticknall, over the spring and summer months, leading to a surge in antisocial behaviour.

Officers from the area's Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) have been horrified to see parents taking small children into the dangerous waters at the reservoir.

And with considerable frustration, rangers and security staff at the location have been subjected to un-cooperative and unhelpful outbursts from visitors.

Last week, at the request of Severn Trent Water rangers, officers were forced to temporarily close off all beaches to visitors because of public safety reasons.

And today, (Monday 2 August 2021), work began to install a semi-permanent fence structure to deter people from going near the water's edge at the reservoir.
