Swadlincote Police have provided an update on the officers who were injured after their patrol car was rammed in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Two officers suffered whiplash and bruising following the incident in Woodville and were taken to hospital as a result.

The Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team's Facebook page provided details - as well as revealing the duo were now on two wheels rather than four.

Their post reads: "Update on our previous post where a police vehicle was rammed and officers injured.

"The two SNT officers involved in the incident were Pc Holmes and Pc Trussell who were both taken to A & E.

"They both suffered whiplash and bruising during the incident.

"They returned to work expecting to take the new police vehicle out, the sergeant soon put a stop to it and told them "On your bike".

"The officers would like to thank the public for the lovely messages and concerns for both officers. We are one big team."
