Police say this is a continuing inter agency investigation.

The Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team gave more details and said: "Team work. Thanks to our community.

"Safer Neighbourhood Team, Environmental Health, LPU officers,Dog Wardens, Animal Health, Trading Standards and the RSPCA have completed a joint operation today (Friday) at a Farm in Newhall.

"A number of them were seized and taken to a place of safety where they have received veterinary attention.

"Unfortunately, one puppy took a turn for the worse and collapsed, we are still awaiting an update from the vets. (The one wrapped in the white towel)."
